ok guys I just got the RS sound meter,set it at 70,c and slow.Went through the speakers to calibrate and all but the front mains register at 75db.They are old Bose 201 reflecting bookshelf speakers,got um in early 80's,they have been up in the attic for a while and loaned out to a nephew for a while.Now they are back and are hooked up.When testing they only go to -4 on the meter scale while everything else goes+5 on the scale.Is it time for an upgrade or am I not doing something right?Any response would be apprecaited.Thanks.

Harry: It depends on what brand of receiver you're running, but in general, you want to match the center, and surrounds (including rear center(s)) and subwoofer to your mains level. (Some brands will allow you adjust the mains level too.)


Start by setting all of your levels to zero db adjustment. Then as the test tone cycles around, try adjusting the levels of the speakers I mentioned to match the level of your mains.
