Two annoying traits I have found with a lot of DVD online resellers:

1) Often, when you type in the actual spelling of a title that uses numbers instead of letters within the title (Se7en, S1m0n - that's just an example, not something I plan to buy :D) the search comes up empty. IMDB.com manages to find the movie with either spelling, so why can't some of these resellers figure it out? I realize I could just type in the name using letters instead of the numbers that replace letters in the title, but I'm trying to be as accurate as possible in my searches to avoid having to wade through listings for "Seven Year Itch" and "The Magnificent Seven" to find what I want.

2) I hate when you type in a title and movies with titles that are variations of what you typed come up ahead of the movie with an exact match. For example, if I type "Halloween" into Buy.com's search, the first movie in the series comes up number 2 (of course it doesn't help Buy.com calls it "Halloween 1" instead of Halloween, which is the real title). The 25th Anniversary edition of Halloween comes up #13, well after "Spongebob Squarepants - Halloween".

Of course stores are almost as bad with their placements of some titles. For example:

1) Does the store place a James Bond movie on a shelf under it's actual title or in a 007 (or James Bond) section?

2) Is National Lampoon's "Vacation" under National Lampoon or Vacation?

3) Do they place titles that use numbers at the beginning, or according to there placement alphabetically if the numbers had been spelled out instead?

4) How big is the box? Do I look in the box sets section if the DVD is only a two or three disc set that happens to come in a package that's bigger than a normal keep case or snapper case, or do they only put TV series and multi-movie sets in the separate section?

5) Is an old movie that has been re-released on DVD considered to be a new release by a particular store or do I look for it in the normal section for that type of film?

6) What system does one of the Walmarts near me use? The titles sure aren't alphabetical and I see comedies right next to dramas and action movies. There are boxed sets in a section along with TV series, but here's the Rocky set over here next to "Coming to America." They have a "Family" movie section, so why is "Dumbo" in with the rest of the movies in the other section? BTW, the other Walmart mear me is much better organized, but the selection is smaller, so odds are less of finding a particular movie in stock - though if it is, I stand a better chance of actually FINDING it.

Maybe I'm complaining about something that doesn't matter, but it's just annoying to have to figure out the mindset of stores and online resellers.

The worst part is when there are multiple editions of the same movie and they don't come up together, making it very hard to compare them.

I really wish stores would get a clue and offer searchable databases for their products (especially the "big box stores" - CC, BB, etc.) that tell not only whether the DVD is in stock, but where in the store it is. Actually, that system would be great for any product. If my grocery store can do it, electronics stores should definitely get with the times.
