There are several 1080p under $1000 available now and I have been expecting prince reduce for 720p. But when I checked some models (sanyo PLV-Z60/Pana PT-AX200U/...), the prices are still firm at more than $900. Can I expect the price cut recently?

It's possible, but of course no one can predict the future. I don't think it's likely that you're going to see a 'fire sale' on this generation of PJ's, at least until they're about to be discontinued in favor of a new model and they want to blow out current inventory.

On the other hand, I fully expect that for the most part the next generation of 720P units will be priced substantially lower to be competetive, but frankly I think that the days of 720P projectors as a major player in home theater are numbered. It'll probably hang on for a few more years as 'budget' technology, and will quietly go the way of the dinosaurs. Once 1080P hit 1K it all but became inevitable, as this is a sweet spot for a lot of consumers curious about/ interested in this hobby.

Just my 2 cents, but 2 cents based on historical trends.

I think the GOOD 720p projectors have already had their price drop (that's when I picked up my HD65). I also think the 720p market will die a natural death once lower cost 1080p becomes entrenched.

Thats what I did last week. Put over 50 hours on mine and Love it.

Very nice. Have my PS3 and Xbox 360 hooked up to it because it offers 2 hdmi ports. Youll love it

Black levels are very decent and blue ray looks amazing.

I have a Samsung LN52a650 and I dont even use it anymore. everything is projected and the funny thing is the Samsung is 1080P.

If you dont have an Ambient light issue youll be in heaven.

Stop. You can probably get a better 720 in a month or so (Epson or Panny)....

i just bought a hd71 from optoma a couple months ago. im not floored by it like some... its nice, but im sure there are better projectors out there. ive seen screenshots of panasonics that look leaps better then hd71 screenshots... but those are just still picture. i can say i am VERY impressed with the hd71's motion and lag rates... for action movies and video games this projector is kick ass.

Gotta have the Huge zoom to fill 2.4 screen. That leaves the Epson and the Z60. They're the only ones with 2x zoom. And the Epson will have to drop a lot. Is it that much better?
