So guys i think i will buy the samsung hdtv receiver but i was curious to know if there is a tivo that allows you to record hdtv content?

As far as I know, there is no TiVo that can currently record HDTV. DirecTV is scheduled to come out with one sometime this year.

If you have a TIVO unit hooked up to a Directv HD STB you should be able to record HD channels down rez'd to SD.


But, if you have a Directv/TIVO STB, you can only record SD channels, not even down rez'd HD channels because the Directv/TIVO STBs currently on the market aren't HD. They can't tune in the HD channels.


With any luck, an HD Directv/TIVO STB will be available by the end of the year. But, it will be expensive, probably more expensive than Sony's HD200 STB. I wouldn't be surprised if it was priced above $1,000, at least to start.
