Many thanks for the link. I am interested in the x4700 model (or the sr7015 Marantz equivalent), here's a very quick comparison with the current x4500h:
  • added HDCP2.3, HDMI 2.1 & related features.
  • added HRD10+.
  • added 2way Bluetooth.
  • Auro/Auromatic support is missing from the specs (only x6700 has it). That would be a big letdown for me, x4500 had it.
  • same power specs (125W at 8ohm 2channel). The whole amp section seems to be 100% same.
  • front/back/internal screenshots look pretty much the same, could be that the only extra is the HDMI2.1 stuff.
List price for x4700 is $1699 which is $100 more expensive than x4500. Unless they also updated the DAC and/or DSP sections, that is way too much imo.
hi im interested also in buying the same model (4500 or 4700). I think that Denon 4700 will be an 11ch processor with 200W per channel, according to this article https://www.hxosplus.gr/av/denon-avc-x4700h-2020-11-2/
unless they have mistaken 6700 with 4700!
Furthermore at the present time Denon 4500 costs new in Europe around 1100E and in US around 1299$, so the difference will be around 400$(=350E) which is a signifficant amount to think of

X4700H ($1700) ^^^

X3700H ($1200)

X6700H ($2500)
So..., based on the MSRP differences, the new HDMI 2.0+2.1 hybrid board is valued at about $100 and the new DTS:X® Pro + other modifications for the X6700H are valued at about $200...

The x4500 is specified with 9amps and 11channel preamps. I doubt that it will change.
And the 200W number is just specsheet blabla, only reached with one channel driven and lots of distortion. With more than 5 channels active it's probably below 100W/channel.
About the price it is quite hard to compare now, I just looked at the listed prices of that one US reseller. In any case, if the minimal HDMI2.1 features are the only change, I will not pay anything extra. And if Auromatic is indeed missing from x4700, I might just buy the x3600. At least that one is well tested and will probably be available soon for less that half of the x4700 price.

@onesolo maybe but that thread is not particularly active and these are all HDMI2.1 devices. The first and only AFAIK.

What are the chances that these babies get released before end of summer? :p

Does Denon have a "normal" product release cycle that we can predict from?

Looks like Shane will be doing something also with the DM announcement. I wonder if his will be injunctions with Audioholics like they have done in the past.
Never mind looks his is an hour earlier than Audioholics.

I'd pay a extra $200 per 8k 2.1 HDMI IN on the 6700. Sad that we only get one, and also a bit sad that I need a receiver within the next few months and don't really want to wait another year when I could get 2 or more for probably the same price.

Luckily the HDMI 2.1 input is only necessary for the PS5 or XBOX Series X. Movies and the Apple TV 4K can be connected to other inputs. Personally I’m eyeballing the 6700 model.

Unlucky for me I plan on getting both of those at launch. Are they coming out with an 8700 model? I don't remember seeing any leaks about it.

With Covid19, nothing is normal this year, so don't expect them to stick to previous schedules. Heck, Sony just canceled their big PS5 event out of respect for police brutality, rioting, looting and arson.

Anyway, previously:
X2xxx series: June
X3xxx series: July
X4xxx series: September
X6xxx series: September

After tomorrow's official press release, we should have a better idea of the time frames for this year's models.

I think they said they were only going to sell an upgraded version of the 8500 and the next flagship would be a year or two later.

No, there won't be a new flagship anytime soon.
But in early next year we can expect a 8500HA.
Which will be a 8500H that already includes the HDMI 2.1 board.

I expect a real successor of the 8500H(A) in 2022 at the earliest.

Do you think the X8500HA will also be updated like the rest of the D+M 2019/20 lineup including the newer although still outdated Bluetooth version 4.1 with Bluetooth headphones transmission functionality & Dolby Atmos Height Virtualisation? The current X8500H has the really old Bluetooth 3.0 without headphones support.

I do not know. They did not went into too much detail when they mentioned the 8500HA.
It might be possible that they are going to update stuff like BT. But I would not expect things like: more powerful Amps, DIRAC or a new design.
