I searched google last night for "hd-dvd writers" and found a few pages including one that said this;

"Volume production of a write-once HD-DVD-R disc that can store 15GB of data will begin in the first half of next year, about the same time that HD-DVD recorders and PC drives will become available, Toshiba and two optical disc makers said at a news conference this week."

Hurray right? Then I looked at the article date at the bottom,

I get the feeling *they* are holding them back solely to stop us from making "backups". Supposedly one of the great features of HD-DVD is how similar it is to regular DVD. This should mean that the writers aren't that difficult to make, and that media shouldn't be too expensive either.

So where the hell are they already?
