Where can I find out what players play DVD-R or +R

I am considering buying a DVD recorder but I want one that records in the most universal format so this discs can on all or at least most of the DVD players I have in the house. The players im looking to play them on are all older machines. Is there some where or someone who can point me to a list of what manufactors play which format?

These are the machines I'd like them to be able to play on

Panasonic RP56

Panasonic A110

Toshiba SD1200

Ge 1100 I think

Any info anyone could give would be appreciated.
