Hi All: I went to Best Buy, Walmart, Target etc. looking for the standard $39.99 remote & cannot find it! I bought the new Wii Sports that came with the new "motion plus" adaptor.

From what I gather...Websites like Newegg, Amazon sell the Wii "branded" remote, but people claim it's a 3rd party build & it's as good as the remotes that are sold in the Brick & Motor stores. What gives? Why should I pay an extra $10.00 for a remote that includes the motion plus when I already have it!!!!

Any insight?

Thanks!

Alex

Well, you might want to have more than one Motion Plus doodad - as Resort offers multiplayer & other Motion Plus titles surely will.

Lately, all I have seen in retail in terms of "real" Wiimotes are the $49.99 ones that include the M+ add-on - both in classic white as well as the new black ones - blue & pink are coming.

You might check a local GameStop or GameCrazy store if you have one nearby.

Thanks guys! I really should have mentioned that I bought an additional Wii "Motion Plus" remote by itself @ retail. So as it stands, I own one standard Wii remote & one Motion Plus remote. I bought Wii's new "Resort" that came with a Motion Plus adaptor. I want to keep one in my Wii "Zapper" w/o having to change it out all of the time!!! So hence why I need another standard "Wii" $39.99 remote! I refused to buy one online that's not up to stuff so to speak! It really looks like the online remotes are not as good as ones sold in the stores.

As ShaqDan mentioned, you might want to look for Wii Play. That will get you a standard Wiimote for around $40 packed in w/ Nintendo's own "premiere" mini-game collection for Wii

Not that Wii Play is bad - as far as Wii minigame collections go, Play is the probably the most polished. It's also one of the best selling Wii titles to date - moreso I imagine as it comes w/ a "free" Wiimote (or it's a Wiimote w/ a free game - 6 one way, 1/2 dozen the other). My kids enjoy the game from time to time & it was my wife's number 1 Wii game of choice early on until Sonic the Hedgehog, Wild West Guns & Dr Mario Rx got purchased from Wii Shop.

Having an available Wiimote to easily pop into things is something I like to have too, except swap out the Zapper for a GHIII Les Paul or a Wii wheel when playing Excitebots - or the Wheel/Wiimote as "tambourine" for whoever happens to be that day's RB/GH vocalist.

JWebb: Many thanks for the hook-up! I bought it from Amazon for $49.99 w/ free shipping & no sales tax. I found one @ a Gamestop for $39.99, but once you factor in Mass. sales tax @ 6.25% ($42.49) plus it's 30 miles away. I would burn a couple of gallons of gas. So...buying the "Wii Play" I pick up a game for free (almost) & a Wii standard remote!!!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!!!

Alex

Oh BTW...I found a better price on the web, but the company received a lot of bad reviews. Why take the chance! Amazon rocks!
