If you truly value great audio, then the best way to avoid spending more money is never A-B your gear against something better.
I guarantee you that if you start changing your digital cable to something like a Harmonic Tech Cyber Link Digital, then you WILL BE COMPELLED to shell out the $200 to get one.
Similarly, if you had a Bel Canto DAC-1 at home to play with, you can kiss good-bye another $1,300 - you will just have to buy it.
If you are happy with your current setup, then forget about it.
If you seek a great bang for the buck, than any better receiver from the likes of Denon or Yamaha will suffice nicely.
When you start really caring about the sound and start investigating things like separates, cables, tweaks, etc, then YOU ARE HOOKED. You wallet is at the mercy of your need for that next audio fix.
