I have another thread about asking what kind of surrounds I should buy.

My front speakers including center will be in an entertainment center.

I have a vaulted ceiling that goes up diagonally in an octagon shape. I can place the speakers at an angle facing the back of the couch on two of the more middle spots in the octagon (if the wall wasn't diagonal the speakers would face toward the tv and fronts).

OR I can place the speakers in the octagon where the speakers are facing the sides of the couch (if the wall wasn't diagonal the speakers would face each other).

I hope this makes sense and any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh and the house is already prewired.

if this is a 5.1 setup, then the surrounds are more like "sides" than "rears". http://www.dolby.com/consumer/setup/...ide/index.html

Considering the shape of the room, I would experiment with speaker placement using temporary stands of some kind, or friends acting like speaker stands
to check the proposed positions. Find a passage in a movie that really uses the surround channels and replay it for each position change.

good luck
