i've bought several longer-than-should-be cables and every one has worked perfectly, best as i can tell. i honestly don't think you can go wrong except for paying too much

Can't help with DVI, but you can build componant cables that are as good as anything you can buy.

RG6 coax in as long a length as you need, high-quality RCA plugs and a little soldering...
