First question is:

Does anyone know of a supplier (preferably in Canada) that has a supply of NEC LT150's? I've checked with a few retailers in Canada and they inform me that the product is discontinued (which I knew) and they are not able to source any.

Second question is:

Where does NEC Marketing and Sales have their heads? If you check out www.projectorcentral.com, you will find that the LT150 ranks number one in all categories of projectors sold. If the product is selling so well, why would NEC suddenly discontinue it for a so called new and improved version (LT150Z)? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Sorry for the rant, but I had to get this off my chest. It's so frustrating because I've spend the past couple of months researching products and when it comes to making a purchase I find the one that I'm most serious in is not available (for no good reason).

The main reason that the NEC LT150 is selling so well is due to its price to performance ratio. It is a lot of projector for not a lot of money. The problem is that NEC is not getting rich on these units at the prices they are currently selling for. In fact it used to sell for a couple of thousand more, when it was a current manufactured product. As with many products in this market, the price drops quite a bit towards the end of its life.

Thanks!

Check with http://shopper.cnet.com/shopping/res...441.sort.price . I'm sure some of these companies will ship to Canada. Good luck. Dell's Small Business Section had some for $2160 after 20% discount ( http://dell1.m0.net/m/s.asp?HB4399484000X1100763X77804X ). Their discount is still good until 10/4/01 but LT150 can't be found easily. Some found it in the Medium Business Section via search but they would not honor discount as coupon only applies to Small Business Section. You can still find some slightly used or new on AVS classifieds. Ebay has some too but beware of scam artists. The LT154 is avail. for $2650 ($2120 after discount) and is pretty good. It's LCD so no rainbows to worry about. Dead pixel is the only risk. Colors should be great for LCD but contrast is not as good as LT150. Did you see that the Viewsonic Litebird PJ870 was only $1120 after discount (SVGA DLP, 700 lumens). That's a pretty darn good price. If you got 4K (with 20% Dell discount) the Piano LP530 should be much better than LT150. Don't worry about backorder stuff, Dell is pretty good at filling orders. I ordered a backordered LT150 bulb and it came within 10 days.
