Hi:

I am about to purchase either the Lexicon DC-2 or MC1 and I will be using the EX with 7 speakers. Anyone with recomendations of amp or combo amps for these processors would be greatly appreciated

I am using Marantz MA500 Monoblock amps - 7 of 'em.

These are THX certified and put out 125 watts (8 ohms). This is plenty for me in my 14'x21' room, and they can be had for around $200 each.

Plus, they look cool in my rack... http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

If you have the room, I'd go with at least two amps, simply form a heat dissapation standpoint. The Lexicon amps, OEM'd from Bryston are great,a dn of course having them work with the 12v trigger on your processor is quite handy. And they would look good together. You didn't specify a price range, there is a pretty wide range out there.

please forgive my quoting- I usually find its done when its not needed. but you asked about amps to go with the processor- and the truth is, you match amps to speakers. the lexicons have analog rca outs- so long as you get an amp that has analog rca inputs, your mathcing is done. some amps have triggers that the lexicon's trigger output can work with- thats something else to take into consideration. more important though are speakers. some speakers work better with different amps- so heres the big question- what speakers are you using?

I just purchased an MC-1 a few weeks ago, and decided to go with two ATI 1506 amps. These amps sound great in my system, but others have noted that the ATI's are a little bright - maybe my hearing's not sensitive enough to detect that.

I have a question that maybe someone out there can answer: how do I setup the amps so that they are powered on with the rest of the system? There's no remote control to turn on the amps, so currently I'm having to walk ALL the way over to my equipment rack to turn on/off the amps, which is a big drag seeing as how that's the only piece of gear I have to do this to. My Pronto is programmed to turn everything else on. Help!

I have two lexicon/bryston 4 channel amps that are a perfect match as they were selected by lexicon to be used with their processors. I've had very good results with the dc-1/dc-2 and the MC-1. The amps are made by Bryston who also sells them with the Bryston name tag. Look them up on the lexicon website,or check with alan at avscience he has three of these amps by lexicon, demos for sale. Peter!
