which 8600gts is best?

building a blu-ray htpc to hook up to my 60" sxrd. havent built a media center in quite a while, many years ago I had built one with a brand spanking new ATI AIW 9000, lol. anyway money is no problem and I want the best video quality I can go. I have a HD-DVD player already so gonna throw a blu-ray rom in the htpc so I can enjoy both formats. what's the best card out there for this? I'm guessing a 8600gts is the fastest/best. and btw how do I hook up to my tv, in one of my hdmi ports or the vga port on the back?

thanks

or, anyone using the new radeon hd 2900 xt? is it better than the 8600gts?
I don't have either a 8600, 8500 or a 2900. From everything I have read, for a pure HTPC and no games with good ventilation the 8500 fanless would be cheaper and just as good. I think it's too early to tell if the new ATI will be better, give it a month for drivers to get better and wait for some PQ tests. I myself will be getting a 8500 when the XP drivers come out.
the 8500/8600 should be fine for blu-ray playback if that is your only concern. The 2900XT takes a huge power supply dumps tons of heat and has a pretty big fan. It's not as fast as an 8800GTS for games, so it really is out of the running in alot of ways.

Any passive 8500 or 8600 would be great.
ordered a evga superclock 8600gts and a sony blu-ray burner/drive. so hopefully this will give me some great movie watching!
IIRC, the 8500 and 8600gt don't support HDCP, thus the 8600gts is the only way to go if you are planning on HD playback.

Not true at all. Some 8500's and some Gt's do support HDCP, you just need to read the description carefully to be sure the one your ordering does.

They can, it just depends on whether the manufacturer decides to include a HDCP keychip. There's maybe a shortage or something, because a lot are choosing not to.
If someone were to use SlySoft AnyDVD HD an HDCP compliant video card would not be necessary.

So would video QUALITY be exactly the same between the 8500 and the 8600GTS??
