I have a dedicated home theater room that I pre-wired for 9.2 surround.

I am about ready to buy speakers, and tentatively decided on Axiom.

M 80 for Right and Left

VP150 for Center

QS8 for surrounds

EP500 for Sub

I have a Yamaha RX-v2700, which allows rears or presence for 7.1 setups, I would like to have both so I can use them as preference dictates.

My question is whether to get QS8's for rears and presence, or would direct firing M3's be better for either or both of these applications.

Can M3's be wall mounted? Are presence speakers usually direct firing or surround type speakers?

Any help would be appreciated.

Match the speakers with the same brand and type to get a smooth soundstage.

All of the speakers in question are from the same brand,so matching is not a problem.

Basically I am asking whether I should buy a good bookshelf speaker or more surrounds for the rear speakers, and the same question for the presence speakers.

Unless you are greatly interested in SACD and/or DVD-A I'd go with another pair of QS8s in the rear for 7.1.

M3s can be mounted on the wall with the FMB .

Not familiar with presence speakers, but I would think the QS8s would fill that bill very well.
