I finally have my first blu ray drive on order and I will be ripping to MKV and lossless flac. This will be my first chance to finally experience the new audio formats such as dolby trueHD and DTS-MA HD(lossless flac of course).

What Blu-Ray movie do you think would have the best audio to first experience this new audio with? I have a full 7.1 surround setup, large room and a projector with a 119" screen. I'm ready to go!

Seriously though, I've only seen about 15 movies on my new system but so far King Kong on Blu-Ray with 5.1 has impressed me the most with sound (133inch screen with all Monitor Audio Gold speakers). Makes people literally jump out of their seats. I gotta check for any messes after. The sound is a very dynamic experience because the dialog, the action, and the orchestra all sound completely separate and spacial. Not many 7.1 movies available yet.

You're a classics man. Or is this a remake?

when they start "remaking" porno, the movie industry will be officially doomed.

Check out high-def digest. They review Blu-Rays and give some good recommendations on which ones have the best picture/audio quality and which would make good demo discs. I've found that Pirates of the Caribbean (certain scenes from each film) are excellent, especially for showing off the audio system.

Pearl Harbour

This is a good one about 20 minutes in for the initial attack scene. The explosions are awesome with a good sub and the directionality of the planes and bullets are quite good.

I also liked Apocalypto for its jungle scenes. With my 7.1 system it felt like I was sitting in the middle of the jungle.

I would say Quantum of Solice is pretty good, as are Batman Begins/Dark Knight, I, Robot (I know its not the the best but damn it looks & sounds emense) & Oldboy (UK version has fantastic 7.1 dts MA mix).
