I ordered the x1 from dell a few days ago, but there's nothing on the website about the component to s-video cable. Do I need to order one or does it come with the projector?

I received my X1 a few days ago, and there were No Component to S-Video or Component to VGA cables. Page 4 of the manual indicates there should be a Component to S-video adapter, but an Addendum to the manual says the manual is wrong. You can buy them from Infocus for $20.

Don't buy them from InFocus. Search the web for the part numbers and you will find them cheaper elsewhere.

I just looked around and you're right. They can be found WAY cheaper. But are these the exact same parts and not something made with poorer quality? Would anyone be able to point to a reliable dealer?

I can't really imagine being able to buy a poorer quality converter lead than those supplied by Infocus - therefore be sure you pay as little as possible. Most unimpressed - but at least in the UK the price is now going down for these parts. S-video to component down by 2 thirds & the VESA one by a half.
