Which DefTech Speakers...BP7002 or BP7004 ?

1489 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  pgatour
I have an HK 635 Receiver and a 10' x 14' room. I will be using these for 90% HT. Which speakers should I get the 7002's or the 7004's ? Will I need a separate subwoofer besides the subs that the speakers have ?

get the 7004s if you can afford them. They have 4 5 1/2" drivers and 2 1" tweeters and 12" subs built in them. That's a great choice of speakers by the way ;)

Don't the 7004 have a 10" sub ? The 7002 is the bigger model with 12" subs and also a more hefty price tag.
7002's...12" sub, four 5.25" mids

7004's...10" sub, two 5.25" mids

There is a $300 per speaker retail difference.

The 7002's should provide you a better mid range with the two extra drivers.

I wouldn't be caught up to much on the size of the sub, for what they are, they will be pretty comparable.

I own the previous model, 2002tl's, and I love them. But I also feel the need for a seperate sub, so I have a SVS PB12-plus/2.

The 7002 is definitely a better speaker, but whether it is worth $300 more per speaker is really up to you.

Audition them both, then go from there.

For what it's worth, I auditioned the 2004's and 2002's before deciding on the 2002's. For me, it was worth the cost difference.
