Which DVD-A Player should I buy?

I've currently got a Toshiba SD5700 DVD-A player and I'm replacing it because in order to switch from Bitstream output to the Analog 6 Channel output (for DVD-A), I have to manually switch configuration settings using the DVD Player's NAVI menu.

So, I'm looking for a player where this is not required. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...RN

Are you looking for a universal or just DVD-A capability? If the latter, among those not on that list (though it's an impressive list) are various offerings from Arcam, NAD, Cambridge Audio and Rotel. Each of these has a great audio reputation and offers at least one DVD-A capable player.

Onkyo also has a couple of new models that should be available very soon. Specifically the DV-SP502 (MSRP $300) and the DV-CP602($500?). I'm *guessing* the audio should be on par with something like the Yamaha S-1500.

Until this morning, I was looking for just DVD-A capabilities but that has now changed to DVD-A and SACD.

Right now, I am considering the Toshiba SD-4960 but if I can find a universal player that can also do upconversion to 720P and for less than $250 with good reviews, I'll go with it.
