Any DVD player can vertically stretch "enhanced for widescreen" material when set to 16:9 mode, however my Bravo D-1 using the DVI output can vertically stretch "non-enhanced" material (using the zoom feature) and also 4:3 material when set to 16:9 mode.

Hope this helps.

I believe the momitsu v880 can't stretch vertically when using dvi. Isn't using the zoom feature stretching both directions? I would like to vertically stretch 2.35 movies, then compress with a panamorph lens. I would like to do this thru a dvi connection

Thanks

Pete,

When using the zoom feature on non-enhanced material it does stretch the image both vertically and horizontally and therefore fits it into the 16:9 screen properly when your pj is in the 16:9 mode. Before zooming, the image was a 16:9 letterbox inside of a 4:3 image centered inside the 16:9 screen. If you place your pj then (after zooming) into 4:3 mode the image should be vertically stretched. I will recheck this next time I turn on my pj and report back to you.

I tested different material using my Bravo D-1. When the player is in 16:9 mode it works just as I posted above. I am using my pj to stretch the image vertically by using its 4:3 mode instead of its 16:9 mode. This works for me since I have an native 4:3 projector which also has a 16:9 mode for widescreen enhanced material. If you have a native 16:9 pj then I do not know how this will work for you.
