Which DVDO to choose?

I'm looking for something to spiff up my SD coming out of my Comcast box (and maybe my SD Tivo...or get the Comcast DVR) into my Mits 46805. My DVD quality doesn't bother me, it's just the SD. I'm sure I'll enjoy the benefit to my DVDs (currently using Pioneer Elite DV47).

I plan to upgrade my display to a front projector (not yet selected), hopefully within the next year. I like the connectivity options of the VP30 which will really help me with my future system, but the $2k tag gets me. I know DVDO has a generous upgrade program, but at list price it doesn't seem worth just the $500 difference. I have seen some new non B stocks of the HD+ for close to the trade-in price.

From experience...how long do the trade-in values remain about the same level? I'd hate to buy an HD+ with the plan of upgrading only to find that my upgrade discount went away just before I needed it.
