I have read thru the post and it seems that I am at a loss, dvdr seem to have come a long way and I am not familiar with the lingo. I currently have dtv hdtv dvr and in another room a htpc running mce 2005. I was looking for the best way to archive my shows from the dvr's to the dvdr. I heard that there are dvdr that all can be accomplished by a push of a button. But do any of them allow you to pick the point to start recording and end recording? What about just recording a section of the recording and not the whole thing? Any suggestions for a good one around $200 - thank you...
You do that by editing the content first. Any HDD-based DVDR will let you first record to the HDD, then edit that content, then commit it to DVD. I do that with both my Panasonic E85H and my Pioneer 633, with fine results.
