Which floor standing will go well with Onkyo 805?

I bought some Polk RTi10 speakers and I really do not think they match well with my amp. They are sooooo bright. It hurts my ears badly at loud volumes. Also not enough mid range its all treble and bass.

I want to get something warm and full. I want it to sound loud, with pressence, like at a nice sounding concert. I have a 200sq ft room hardwood floors, high ceiling and hard walls.

My price range is under $800. Hope somebody can give me some good advice

Well, I just ordered the Aperion Intiums 533-T to go with my Onkyo 705. I haven't recieved them yet, but I can post more when they come. You should check out there website a bit. You can try the speakers out for 30 days and return them without paying shipping if you don't like them. Might be worth a try.

I also talked to some of the people there and they were running their showroom with an Onkyo 875 with good results. Seems like Aperions and Onkyo may be a good match.

Some room treatment maybe? You can start with a rug on the floor.
I doubt your receiver has anything to do with it...per-se.

I agree with SimpleSetup that you probably just need some room treatments. If that doesn't help then it's probably the speakers. Most consumer receivers will sound basically the same depending on how you run them.

Did you run Audyssey yet? 6 or more positions? Mic on a tripod at ear height? Did you reference the 805 0dB to 75dB SPL using a SPL meter? Check out the 805 owners' thread, the 705 owners' thread first post, the Audyssey thread, your 805 manual.

A rug would help, but it will be better to change the Polks. Aperion are highly rated, and they pay freight back if you want to return them. In the more neutral side, and within your budget, I would recommend:

Monitor Audio Bronze

PSB Image T55

Paradigm Monitor

Energy RC

Aperion 533-T

I have a rug on the floor. I did the audyssey 6 positions with a tripod which helped alot, but they are still too bright for me. I don't have an spl meter I am not sure what that would change. Would it help capping the highs or giving me more mids?
