Hi all,

I have a HK630 receiver with 5.1 setup. Which format should I be listening to when listening to CD's? I listen to mostly jazz.

Thanks

Hello, welcome to the forum.

First off, so you are aware, this area is for 5.1 music, and not the normal CD listening. If you really want to use your 5.1, look into 5.1 DVD audio discs and you will be amazed. ;)

As far as your question, that is total user preference. What you may like the listening mode to be, someone else may not. I may like the HALL setting for Jazz, you may not.

Suggest just trying the different mods and find one you enjoy.

the "correct" way to listen to standard redbook CDs is in 2-channel stereo (or quasi 2.1 if you add a sub), the way that they were recorded and meant to be played.

that said, you can listen to them any way that you prefer.

I have a H/K AVR-525 and I use the "Logic 7 Enhanced" mode to expand 2 channel music to 5.1

ok, cool. I'm new to today's formats and I had no clue if I should be listening to stereo or the others. Agreed, I guess it's up to my own ears. Hey thanks guys.
