Which HDMI Splitter would work best for this setup

433 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Wil Horneff

I have a martial arts school and am going to broadcast a martial arts technique over and over on a loop from my iphone to 3 televisions around the room.  There will be no sound, just the visual loop.  It doesn't matter if they are all in sync or not.  Two tvs are 35 feet away from the source and the other is approximately 70 feet away.  Can you suggest me a reliable splitter and any suggestions on cables?

Thanks a lot

Sure, you are going to want active cables, to cover that distance, the 70 footer is going to take 2 cables as they don't have a single cable that long. http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=102&cp_id=10255

To put them together you well need a coupler and I think with the active cables there won't be a problem. I have used these without one in my home a few times and I have used a lot of Monoprice products with out a problem of any kind.

You can also do this with nonactive cables

And 2 of these

The 22awg are very stiff so these are going to be need.

You have not specified how you are going to get the video from the iPhone to the splitter. I am assuming you have a docking station that has an HDMI output; so one of the 2 splitters well do the trick.

but don't forget the cable from the doc to the splitter.

‘over and over on a loop from my iphone’ – there must be a better way to play back a looping video

Once you sort out a suitable Player you could use one of our HD over LAN Transmitters (Tx) , a budget Gigabit Switch and three of our HD over LAN Receiver (Rx) units and install a CAT6 cable to each Display.

http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI_extender_LAN_HDDSX.html

With the above system you can simply add additional Rx units should you want to add in more Displays.

Sorry for the delay, I was away for a few days.  Thank you so much for that response.  You really took care of everything I need.  My only question is relating to the active vs non active cables.  I'd prefer to use the nonactive since they come in the lengths that I need.  Any issues with that over the active one's?
I think the issue would be with using two active cables vs. the non-active ones. You really just want to use a single cable point to point. I use the 75' 22AWG HDMI cable from Monoprice which is linked above and I have no issues with getting 1080i video to cover the distance just fine. So, that would be my first choice and recommendation. It's inexpensive, and should work well.

As for a player, you may want to check eBay for some used BrightSign pieces which have HDMI output...

They are designed for 24/7 use and looping playback of videos. Kind of a learning curve to get it up and running, but will just loop a video as you want. Also allows you to drop in graphics (logos), etc. to look how you want.

BrightSign is from the same company that makes Roku, so it's a solid product, but very specialized to digital signage.
