I'm currently looking at Kimber Kable KCAG and XLO Reference 2 Type 1a interconnects. My budget is $260 or less for a .5 meter pair.

Which of these two interconnects would work best with a Bryston 4B ST and B&W Nautilus 804s?

It really depends upon what you like. I would try to demo them if you could first to find out. From what I have seen and heard first hand is there isn't much difference between quality of cables from most companies, just price on the high-end. The one exception to this is cables from Transparent. They are the only one with networks that do what they say and also sound better than the others. I was a huge skeptic on almost all cables until I heard them and they do work. But the price is almost beyond compare on them so it's really a question of budget too. If cost wasn't a big concern then I would go with Transparent, but the others you mentioned will both perform very well and you should be happy with either choice.

I really do suggest a demo though to get what you like best.

Happy shopping,

Jeff

BTW, I'm looking for interconnects that are as neutral as possible. I'm not trying to "tune" my systems sound with the interconnects...

Does Transparent have a web site or etailers?

their website:

Transparent Audio

you have to buy from a dealer, they don't do on-line sales.

You have to match the cables to your system.

I recommend Harmonic Technology Truthlink for solid-state and Pro Silway II for tubes for some systems...In the right systems, these cables can make a world of difference.

I would also add that Tranparent picks thier dealers VERY carefully and only have high-end ones that know what they are doing. You won't find very many of them like dealers that sell other brands like Monster, MIT, etc. so you will need to find the one closest to you and give them a call. Also, don't expect to find discounts beyond maybe 5-10% at the most on them. Some will not give you any discount at all. But, they do get a thumbs up rating from me and it looks like a couple of others like them too.

FWIW, I also use Transparent interconnects. I connect my Classe pre/pro to a 3-channel Aragon amp using musiclink Super and my 2-ch. Aragon(surr)amp using Musiclink Plus. I also connect my Dynalab tuner using Music Link Plus interconnects. I also auditioned cables from Straightwire (Maestro),Kimber,Monster, and Audioquest. I chose the Transparent cables, I just thought they created a sound that was more open than the others. Your mileage may vary however.

Dave, thanks for the offer. I bought the Kimber Kable KCAGs. I'm very satisfied with them.
