I have a new panny 50X75U. Which color is best to use for the Standard Definition sidebars? I hate the 'Just' and 'Full' aspect ratio settings due to the inherent distortions, and a lot of times the 'Zoom' setting is just too big for SD programming.
Yes you are correct but he asked which one was better. Not as likely to get it from the gray as you are from the black. But with todays plasmas most have the built in protection to keep from burn in. Of course it's not 100% fail safe so caution rules.
The gray bars are "nicer" to plasma screens vs. black BUT I personally HATE the gray bars and when I use the bars I switch to black (gray is the default). How old is your TV? If it is newer then IR is at it's worst and as your display "matures" IR will be less of an issue. Be sure to take your TV off of "torch mode" by reducing your contrast and brightness to a reasonable level and this will help too.
