Which is better HDTV or real life?

Ok, here is a poll type question:

In your opinion, which looks better, HD or life? Say you are standing in a field surrounded by lots of various things (trees, clouds, grass, etc). Also, taking into account that nothing is physically wrong with your sight, which looks better looking at that field in real life or viewing it in HD?

Well, since I don't starve my eye sight of any internal bandwidth, I must reluctantly choose real life. Damn reality.
HD is better. Eyes either focus on the foreground or the background. An HD picture can look perfect despite depth. I usually noticed this during basketball games, when I could see people in the stands in perfect focus while also seeing the players clearly.

Real Life my eyes don't do that.
I agree with CycloneGT, I think HD looks better. But I am curious to see what people think. I think it's amazing that technology (especially with tv's) can have some effect on this type of question.
You mean you can see trees, grass and clouds in REAL LIFE?

I gotta get off the couch right now.

First thing tomorrow.....
Interesting discussion, but what does it have to do with the thread title?

Thread title fixed.

I'd have to go with HD. If I was standing in a field surrounded by grass and trees, there'd most certainly be some angry property owner coming after me with a 12-guage saying, "HEY!! Get outta my field!!!" Doesn't happen with HDTV.

Real Life my eyes don't do that.
I think you could do that if you squinted.

Also, in real life you wouldn't have to look at either the players or the fans. You could spend all your time watching the dance squad women!

Seriously, I think this probably depends on your eyesight. If you have bad eyes, then HD is probably better for you than if you have good eyes.
See less See more
Depends on how recently I got my perscription updated...so far I haven't seen anything like when I first walk out of the doctor's office with higher strength contacts. It feels like you can see every minute detail on every leaf on the trees. Unfortunately the effect only lasts for about a day :(
Clearly HD is better, because I can't hit pause on my DVR or rewind real life. :)
People here really need to get out of their theater chairs more times than to just get to the bathroom. Jessica Alba in the flesh in my living room, or Jessica Alba on a 120 in theater screen???? There are more to your senses than just the eyes. If you even ask you have been in the theater too long.

I can't believe there is a thread like this.
now the only problem there is getting Jessica to stop by the house :)

And coordinating that with the wife/SO being out of the house! ;)

You have a wife AND a significant other? In that case, who are they to complain about one more? ;)

Of course, if you have an open-minded wife or significant other (or both), why would you want them out of the house?

Since that would never happen in MY real life, I'll take the HD.

Assumming only the 1 sense is involved I would prefer HD cuz' I don't think I will ever get that close to Jessica de Alba to see that detail.

Now if more than one sense is involved I would definetly prefer real life. Don't want to miss what she smells like :D
See less See more
Depends on your life.

Real life, hands down, no question about it, no brainer, without a doubt, you've got to kidding, have you seen a psychiatrist? end of story, thread done. :D

I wasn't really thinking 'smell' as my second preferred sense :) But there is certaintly something to be said for having more senses then just sight and sound.

I'll match your sight and sound and raise it by touching ... :p
I actually feel sorry for those who think your TV looks better than real life. I guess you folks haven't been to Yosemite, Monument Valley, Canyonlands National Park, or even your own backyard. Thankfully the expression that HD is like looking out a window isn't used anymore, but it certainly is an admission that HD only simulates looking at real life. Get off your couches. Experience the direct appreciation of the beauty (and the negative aspects) of real life.
