Ok I am new kinda I just registered today cuz i wanted to ask a question but I have been reading threads at avs and also other forums for many weeks

so here is my story we are buying a new house and dad wanted to buy a tv for about 2000-3000 so i suggested a FPTV so I got the task of it and been at it ever since...

SO this was my main question my initial budget for the PJ it self was 1000

so what is the best for me

(1) QUESTION

Benq 6100 - $799

Benq 6200 - $1329 , $1129 after $200 rebate also comes with a free dvd player dont know how good it is

Infocus X1 - about $800 i think

so the family will be mainly using for DVD's , VHS and ofcourse XBOX and regular cable no HDTV for now

(2)QUESTION

For the screen thinking of...

101-in 16:9 Electric Screen

Electric / Motorized Screens Included Standard Remote Control and Wire 3-Way Wall Switch---> $399

OR

113-inch 1:1 Manual Screen

Veiwing size: 80"x80"

Screen size: 83"x83"

4 side black masking border: Yes

Screen material: Matte White

Case color: White

Black masking border thickness: 1.57"

Format: Standard (1:1)---> $99

dont know which screen either and what is the advantage of having a electric screen?

thx in advance

PS we have a 25 by 18 and 8.5ft cieling room in the basement for the HT

Couple of things :

1. For VHS and Standard Def TV the X1 would probably be your best option as it has the Faroujia chipset.

2. Screen - power or not powered is personal preference more than anything. The problem with non-fixed screens is they move when they are just hung there, but they are nice as the disappear when not in use. The important thing is to look for a grey finish screen as that will help with your contrast - aka improve the picture quality.

3. Ambient light - is this an issue in your room or do you have total light control?

Since you do not plan on having HDTV in the near future go with the Infocus X1. I hear it has a really good descaler so for SDTV and DVD's it should suffice.

Btw, if ambient light is an issue or you plan on playing a lot of 720p XBOX games then go with the BenQ 6200.

I have complete light control and there are no windows in the basement

Also how much would HDTV cost per month average and installation average cuz if it is only $20-$30 extra per month its fine and i would want it cuz of the quality

Up here HDTV is under $20/month - The X1 does a nice job on HDTV but the BENQ 6200 has a higher native resolution which is better suited to HDTV. Personally I have an X1 and without having seen the 6200 in action I'm 100% satisfied with HDTV on the X1....
