I'm at the point where I'm about to buy an HDTV transcoder for my PC. I've got about 30 feet of component video between my PC and my HDTV. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on which of the two popular transcoders, (Key Digital or Audio Authority), would be best for my setup.

I noticed that on the Key Digital site, they claim that their transcoder can push the signal up to 50 feet. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does the Audio Authority device fair just as well?

I noticed that the Audio Authority device is a bit cheaper, so if there is really no difference between the two in picture quality, I'd choose the AA model. Any advice?

Thanks!

I have the Audio Authority transcoder. I send my signal via VGA for about 25 feet and then into the AA unit and then about 10 feet more to the TV. My AA unit works great, plugged it in and forgot about it. I have not used the Key Digital and others have posted that it is a better picture? I output my HD signal from my HTPC to both my Projector and my RPTV (via the transcoder) and the picture looks great!

I did not want to spend the extra $$ on the Key Digital as others has posted that they had good luck with the AA model.

Willdo, I've also read that the AA will not work with panasonic HDTVs. I chose the key digital for this very reason and its working great, terrific PQ and easy to set it all up with Karnis's guide.

A big difference, no.

A noticeable difference, yes.

My Mits HDTV set has only one YPbPr input (which can double as an RGBHV as well) so for me its a matter of video switching conveinence.

My Mitsu. 65907 also only has one YPbPr input so I may get this KD unit too.

I take it I take the VGA cord from the DTC-100 and my computer and plug them both into the KD unit? What happens if both devices are on? Is one primary?
