I believe the component itself is more important than connectivity.
I don't think dvi itself offers much more if anything over component. I would not choose a dvd player because it has dvi. It's like some audiophiles choosing components based on the availability of balanced inputs. Of course you can't just judge a DVD player's quality by it's price but if you're talking about a high end player that comes highly recommended vs a low end player with dvi then you're definitely better off with the high end dvd player. A better player is a better player. And you can always get high end component cables.
