I am in the framework stage of my theater room and need some advice for a projector. My room will have not light issues, and is 12' x 20' with an 8' ceiling.

I estimate I will get about a 120-130" screen size. I am hooking up 1080p components but am scared of the high prices I see in stores. With that said, I am not opposed to spending on quality. There in lies my paradox! I have had experience with a Panasonic 900 model which is 720p and bright as can be, and had no problems playing my Xbox 360 on it, but now I have a Blu-ray and want to make it shine. I am still working on the audio components, but I don't see that making too much difference in my pic so I won't bother to write it out.

If anyone has any brand suggestions or even better, model, that would be amazing. Last time I looked, Panasonic and Sanyo were the best value for money. Thanks!

Congrats on the new HT room.Being that you have 8ft ceilings you can Use DLP or LCD or Lcos.Have no idea what you price limit is.But with the cedia show coming soon this is the time to just wait a littel longer and see what comes out and prices to drop hopefully. If I was in a big hurry and having a new HT room I would be' the Viewsonic 8100 has been getting some good reviews'and the price is insane.I had the 900 panny and while it was a good littel bright fp'Any of these newer fp will blow it away.Good luck

Studs are up, light is in-ceiling, am currently working on tapping the main furnace feed to vent in the room. I'm not in a big hurry, and my budget for the projo is around 1k-1.5k. Obviously the cheaper the better however I don't want to buy an eventual paperweight. When is the trade show you spoke of anyway?

Here are a couple of links with info on budget projectors.

The prices on some the pjs have gone down a bit.

I am upgrading from Mitsu HC1500 720p to 1080p, and needed a replacement right away (Mitsu got picked up by the buyer), so I went ahead with Pro8100 from JR. It looks like a great pj for the price. Waiting to it to arrive.
