Which PJ for ati pc gaming ?

407 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  aiw9800proman
Hi,

I posted a 'which lcd monitor' yesterday but have now decided that I cannot afford a massive lcd.

I originally didnt want a projector for pc gaming because I thought the detail would be nowhere near as good as a monitor, but I have been told that this is not the case ?

I intend to buy the projector from ebuyer.co.uk as I have never had any problems with them and the prices are very low. Im really looking for some suggested models in the £500 price range and there appears to be a few - infocus x2, benq, sony etc etc and I need to use my ati cards dvi / hdtv out.

Im really new to this subject and need some help understanding the various different connection methods and resolutions.

Any help would be great

How about the PT-AE700 ? Which seems to be mentioned a lot in here.

Pc gaming quality is my priority for this projector.

And im really not bothered about the keyboard / mouse issues, got that sorted already.

A few replies would be great as I want to get a pj ordered tomorrow.
In my setup, I'm going to use a Sony HS-51 for my theater and a NEC HT-1100 for my computer. I figure I'll avoid powerstrip and compatibility headaches by going with a native 4:3 PJ and the HT1100 seems to be one of the, if not the nicest 4:3 at a decent price.
Thanks for your reply.

I think im pretty much set on an infocus x1, x1a or x2. Problem is I dont know which one will give me the best quality pc gaming.

The x2 does not have the faroudja chip which is a real let down but it does have hd inputs which would work with my graphics card.

So the question is this:

Which will give the highest quality pc gaming - X1, X1A or X2 ?

Cheers

Nope, im wrong again :(

Just spoken to Infocus u.k. and they say that no matter what Hdtv inputs I use the X2 will still only look like 800x600. This means I have my facts wrong again.

Yikes this is so confusing

The ae700 talks about native hd resolution at 1280x720, would this give me an equal or better pc gaming experience than say 1024x768 on a standard lcd monitor ?

Cheers
