Howdy,

I've had a Sony VPL-HS20 for quite a while, been very happy with it. However, I just moved - and after setting things up in my new living room, it turns out the room is about 3 inches too short for the HS20 to fill my existing 77" roll-up screen, at maximum zoom. :eek: Incredibly annoying.

So, I guess I'll be buying another projector. The HS20 works very well for my garden theater (been doing it almost every weekend since I built the 14 foot wide screen!), so it won't go to waste - and I would hate buying a smaller screen for the living room, that's just not nearly as much fun. I'm willing to relegate the HS20 to be the "portable" projector.

The question is - which projector should I get? It needs to have shorter throw than the HS20 of course. I was looking at a HS51, it handles much shorter throw as well as a much improved contrast ratio, so that, coupled with a 92"x52" da-lite screen (high contrast matte white) would fit the bill.

However, the HS51 has been out for a while too, so does anyone have a better recommendation? Is there anything newer and better in the same price range? 1-chip DLP does is not an option (I'm very susceptible to rainbows), but I'd love to hear your suggestions about other LCD projectors.

Thanks,

///Leif

BTW here's some pictures of the outdoor screen if you're interested - took me a week to build it, and four people to lift it!

Sounds like a great excuse to get a new projector, but I'd be tempted to either: get a new screen or cut a recess into the wall for the projector.
