Both receivers are about $1,200 at various internet stores. I would be using to watch and listen to HD/SD content on my DVR with my soon to have 55LH90 55" 1080p LED LG TV and blu-ray player.

I am sure both units will sound great. What is important to me is:

1- HD Picture quality and up res from SD content.

2- Ease of setup

3- Ease of use

4- Listen to pandora.com (do I need Onkyo 906 instead?) either directly or through my iphone

5- Future upgradeability?

Seems like the Denon is a more "elegant" solution, Onkyo more power/features? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Last year I would have agreed with you about the Onkyo. With Denon's new releases the 3310,4310 not so much anymore. The Denon's are using the same video processor that comes in a DVDO edge IIRC. As for power they are very close and doubt that you would notice a major difference. Ease of set-up problably goes to the Onkyo. Ease of use after setup is problably a toss-up. Future upgradeabiltiy is without a doubt the 3310 as they have already done some, and its done from your internet connection. Don't know a thing about Pandora, can't help you there. So it really comes down to which you find has the other features you really want or need. The 876 uses Audessey multieq XT and the 3310 does not. The 3310 has 5 HDMI ins and 1 out. The Onkyo has 4 in 2 out. The Onkyo operates at a higher temp than the Denon, some have had problems but most have had none. Nothing a cheap cooling fan couldn't cure. Now are you closer to a choice? To get the same Audessey program in the 876 from Denon you would have to get either last years 2809,3808 4308, or the new 4310. But last years Denon's do not have the video processing you want. The 4310 does have everything but cost more than the 3310 or a 876.

I think phantom hit just about everything there. I'll just chime in about the video upscaling - I don't think it's extremely important, IMO. I get great sound quality out of my TX-SR876. Onkyo will probably come out with updates to the line in September or so. Can you wait a month or two?

I don't think the 3310 supports Pandora through the receiver (I haven't seen it, at least). The 876 won't though, since it has no network connection.

I'm very happy so far with the 3310. I can't offer a first hand comparison with the 876, but I think audio and video quality are both very good on the 3310.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that. The 876 definitely won't do Pandora, and I don't think the 3310 does it either. The 87(7?) that comes out this year is supposed to be network capable, but I still don't think it'll do Pandora.

If you wnat to do that your best bet is to get a Squeezebox or something like that.
