Hi guys & gals

I just raised my resolution from 864p to 960p with my new HTPC at

2.7gig. I tried the WM9 HD clip 'Pinball', and WOW. This is really good

stuff. It's really, really sharp. I love it, and I want more. I can't wait

till the movies get out. DVD's also look better at 960p(@50hz), they

seem to be 'finer' drawn. So, it went as I thought: the resolution doesn't

have to be a multiple of the native resolution, only the refresh rate. With

960p I'm running 1.6666666666 x PAL DVD, which is rather off, but no

problem at all as long as the hz add up. YMMV.

We have discussed this before, but I think it would be a good idea to

run as high as 'possible' on our machines. When WM9 and other HD

formats get to our HTPC's we might as well be ready for them. I don't

want to have two or more settings on my PJ, only one, and starting now

will give us some tÃ*me to tweak that high resolution as good as possible.

Even my convergence and sharpness loved 960p right away. It was more

stable and way sharper than 864p.

These are my thoughts, based on what I see. It seems that everything I

do gives my and my fianceé a better picture. Now we just need a 1209/2.

Thanks,

Nicholas

Ive gotten really accustomed to 720p @ 72hz. I still show people the Superbowl recorded in High Def and their jaws still drop.
