When they do jump in, I'm guessing they'll support both formats, or I'm guessing the studio behind the particular film they're doing hi-def for, may mandate which format(s).

Criterion can't afford to support both formats. Like a lot of small shops they probably won't enter until 2008 when a clear winner is emerging.

With the prices they charge for SD, can you imagine what it'll be for HD!!!

Yes, but they'll do such a good job it'll be worth it and they'll offer classic titles nobody else will bother with. Critierion may be a small house, but they take up a big chunk of shelf space in my collection.

Really, I just can't imagine coughing up over $50 for 4 movies in "Monsters and Madmen.!!!"


If Universal acan give you 5 for $19.95, so can Criterion. I got burned once with "Equinox", ain't doing it again.


By the way, I never upgraded from my LD for the above 4 films in "M and M."
