I am particulary interested in the Sony line because they have the 9-pin serial data port for my ReplayTV. But, which ones can decode HD signal?

Is it only SAT-A55 & SAT-B55~ 5th generation ?!?

Only the SAT-HD100 is HD compatable. I don't know if it has the DB-9 port, perhaps someone who has one can fill us in.

The HD100 does have a DB9 Serial port, but the manual say's it is for future use and does't indicate wether it is currently enabled.

The port still works mostly like the old one (in other words I think you will be able to get it to work). However, be warned, I had to build a converter to get it to work with my laptop (I don't remember if it was just the voltage levels, or they were inverted - I think it was just the voltage levels). You might get lucky, but you may need a converter (to go from TTL to RS-232).
