I found a place locally which sells Unistrut... but there were a wide range of models... a boggeling array in fact, 1200, 2200, 3200 series etc etc.


Which is safe to use for projector mounting ?

Any of the sizes should be able to hold the load of a projector at any reasonable span. The "smallest" Unistut, the 1000 model can support 1690 lbs on a 24 inch span. I think the limiting factor is going to be the strength of the hardware used, not the strut.
