Saw VR4GenIII on used sale locally.

I am worried that it will overwhelm my room.

I am prepared to DIY my own bass traps around 2 back wall corners.

What do you guys think? Wait for VR4Jr, VR2?

Thanks.

Pfft, that's an easy one...VR11's all the way, forget those pansy 4 jr's or 2's. ;)

Honestly though that's a tuff question...I've seen people with large $5,000-$12,000 speakers stuffed into small rooms, but I don't know how optimal that is. Whether it's really negating the sound attributes of the speaker or if it doesn't matter that much.

Though if it were me and I was serious about either speaker, I would try to get the dealer to move both into a small room that perhaps is around the same size as yours, then A/B them and base purchase off that. Better yet, see if dealer would let you take both home and try them both out to find out. :)

If that it isn't possible, then I would think the VR2's might be the better choice considering their size and the size of your room.

I've got VR4's in a 12x18 room. They look big in here, but they sound great!

You've got to give them room to breath, so expect to have them sitting out at least a couple feet from the back wall, make sure you acount for this as you deliberate.
