I have been using a sheet of White Marker board that gives me a 45" 16x9 picture. I like the picture quality - it's bright, blacks are not washed out.

What would the same thing be in a fabric or vinyl ?

I don't know what the gain is.

The down side of the board is that it reflects the projector light and I have to tilt the board down so I don't see it, which distorts the image on one side a bit.

almost anything will work better than a white marker board. The problem is that it has a glossy finish, thus it hotspots... among other reflection anomolies.

shoot the projector at a white wall that's not gloss instead.

Anything painted flat white will look great.

Most all fabrics will look pretty good. dazian.com
