I just set up my first HTPC and have been having a problem with random white pixels, and I can not seem to figure out what is causing them or how to make them go away. Any help that you can give me would be much appreciated.

I have seen what you are describing and I have two bits of info that might help.

First, I have heard that this can be a sign of a bad HDMI cable.

Second, I see this occasionally on the HD broadcasts of Law and Order on TNT. In that case if I rewind my DVR the white specks appear in the same place, so they are being recorded - ie they are coming from the original signal. That would suggest an issue with the actual signal or the source media.

I might swap in another cable first before trying to further diagnose the cause.

I also suspected a bad HDMI cable and have tried it with the one that I use for my Xbox 360 and had the same problem. I think that the problem may be with the ATI DVI to HDMI adapter and wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas of what could be causing it before I bought another cable.
