I am looking to buy a RPTV and plan on hooking my PC up to it. Since, as far as I understand, 1280x720 will be the best desktop resolution that I can view on a HDTV, thus I would want the set to do 720p natively. The only RPTV sets that I know of that do this are Toshibas. Does anyone know any other brands that do 720p natively? Model numbers would be helpful too, if you got em.

I have been looking alot at the Hitachi 51" SWX20B, does anyone know if this set does 720p native? As far as I have found, it doesn't but would like a confirmation.

Thanks in advance

I'm running my GWII at 1280x720 from a PC with 0% overscan. Not sure if you're looking for a TV you can just hook up to the PC and forget about, in that case the GWII won't work as it takes a few (simple) service menu changes to adjust the overscan.

les_bloom:

The DLPs don't have burn-in issues and are all 1280 X 720.

Rob: Who makes this GWII? I have read numerous posts where people refer to this set, and hear good things about it.

mnilan: Thanks for the tip. I have had a couple people refer me to DLPs, because of my viewing habits. The only one I have heard a great deal about is the Samsung HLN models. These are a little more then I was wanting to spend. However, if I got no other choices, then an extra 1000 now will be worth it when I don't have to buy another CRT because of burn in. Could you recomend some other DLP sets that I could look into? I am actually on my way to a Video Only to check em out, I don't think they have these "Tweeter"? stores in Washington :(

Thanks again to you both

les,

GWII = Grand Wega II, sort of a loose way to refer to the second generation LCD RPTVs from sony. Their official type designations are KF50XBR800 and KF60XBR800.

Thanks for the info all. I ended up looking at the Samsung DLP sets and was just amazed, so I think that might be the root I end up taking.

Thanks again

I'm just trying to see a good DLP setup. The one at Best Buy had a color wheel issue last time I looked. I may head out to a local specialty store and have a look.
