But war in the Pacific could have been averted.

It could have been averted, and Asia could have been united under the rule of the emperor as a single expansionist, facist military power.

Japan was an ally after WWI, and recognition as a colonial power emboldened the rise of ultra right wing nationalist leaders who needed natural resources to support industrial growth. Much of the raw materials was coming from the United States. Japan moved toward a facist system with emphasis on arms and weapons to keep the economy growing as the great depression allowed the army to exert growing influence over the emperor and the government. Japan sought to cut their dependence on foreign materials and looked west to China which was in the midst of civil war between Chiang Kai-shek's nationalists and Mao Zedong's communists.

Now looking back, if the allies would have considered Japan a regional power and an equal after WW1 instead of antagonizing it by treating it like a minor insignificant power they could have negotiate better trade agreament and cooperation.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was not a justification for the war. It was the actual start of it.

In 1812, the British were supplying arms to American Indians and repatriating Americans into the Royal Navy to wage their war against the French. Canada could have averted war with the United States by negotiating better trade cooperation and respecting the rights of its neighboring citizens!

As for upcoming war classics on Blu-ray, what about the "The Southpark Movie?" Lol..

That was the start of actual combat. War are never started overnight. Lots of things happens in the background before the first shot is ever fired....

Oh and by 1812 Canada was a British colony. The french were defeated in 1759 on the "Plaine d'Abraham" in front of Quebec and were not in this story anymore.

So do I refer to the first part of your comment, whereby wars begin before actual combat with economic embargos, or the second part that wars only cease at the cessation of the military conflict?

Between 1804 and 1814, the Napoleonic Empire was at war with all of Europe. Napoleon ordered all ports under his control closed to British ships. Britain required a license for ships to sail to Europe. Neutrals had to choose whose orders to follow. The American economy depended on trade with Europe but the Royal Navy was more powerful. American sailors were conscripted into service.
