I'm think I am gonna give one a shot, a soon as they are available.

If it is a D-1 without the loader problems, I'm game.

Who here is gonna try one also ??

Maybe (certainly the price remains VERY attractive) - although the loader problem is not the only thing plaguing the D1s.

I may purchase the D2, it depends on how impatient Iam waiting for the D3 to come

I have to agree completely, as I couldn't have said it better myself. :)

BTW WHat is the latest news on possibly release of D2? Feb or March? (I've seen both on different threads)
I'll wait for the D3 with WM9. On that note, will this player be able to play T2 or does that DVD still require more video power/processor power than the D3 will have? I know that the DVD will not do 1080p on any HTPC lower than 3.0~2.6Ghz.
I'll wait.

I want to make sure it has custom resolutions, doesn't have DVI, and works with my display.

John Flegert.
I'm waiting for the D3 as well.
Do you folks think the D-3 will be a better quality machine, or are you just interested in WM9 ??
I may have to buy a D2.... I have been waiting for almost 3 months for my D1, which was returned to Vinc for repairs, to be returned. I have never experienced poored customer service, and it kills me that I would even consider buying another Vinc product, but I am dying to have a DVI DVD player back.

I may end up waiting to April for one of the HDMI/DVI players from a more dependable vendor.

Wavy
I recently returned my D1. Though I loved the picture, and I mean LOVED, I had all the problems with it that so many others had too. The straw that broke the camel's back was when the loader would only remain open for less than 1 second, forcing me to lunge the disk at the loader and hope I got it in properly before the stinkin' thing snapped shut.

I called V, Inc. and they were very responsive. They said I could return it, and they would send me a totally new D1. I fired the thing off to V, and the next day heard about the upcoming D2. I called, and they very nicely credited my account with the amount I paid for the D1, and said I could apply it toward the D2 when it became available.

I'm still struggling with getting the D2, or waiting for the D3. I definitely want DVI, and it seems uncertain that the D3 will have it. I just dunno. Fortunately, I've still got time to learn more and make my decision.

Bummer!! I hate to laugh at your problems, but the way you wrote that cracked me, up the mental image of you lunging for the the tray made me chuckle.

I was about ready to pull the trigger and buy a D-1 but held off, based on so many posts here. I may take a shot at a D2 though, I hope they fixed the loader problems completely.

Have they said if the D2/D3 fixes the IR contention with Pioneer receivers?

(my loader sometimes closes spontaneously too - not sure, but it might have started since the servo/fimware upgarde).
Waiting for D3. Own a Momitsu V880 for now.

Yes this has been mentioned a bit in another D2/D3 thread. I believe it was:

"Hot New Bravo D2 & D3 DVD Info!!!! "

And I believe the guy who is the PR rep for V Inc. answered that "Yes" the IR issues (mentioned with Pio Recievers) has been addressed in the D2 and D3 models and that a statement to this effect will be released when the ship / sell the machines (not sure what form the statement will be in).

Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Disclaimer: I am just passing along what I read on the other thread. Please look there to get the work from the horse's mouth. :)

Ah, you've made my day. I was going for a laugh. If you're a D1 owner you have to be able to laugh to keep from crying. Fabulous video; disastrous mechanics.

If you read my post above, you'll note I mention how V,Inc said they'd credit my account instead of sending me another D1. Guess what arrived today? YUP! Another D1. Called Laynie, she was very apologetic and responsive, and said the D1 will be shipped back at their expense, and my credit card will be credited with the purchase amount. This will set me free to examine other alternatives. I haven't ruled out the D2, but I want to investigate other options before I commit. I'd like to get a universal player that will play DVD-A, and SACD, will have DVI output for video, and will be in the D2/ D3 ballpark costwise.

Any suggestions, anybody?

I would like a DVI, 720P output player that works like the $40 ones you pick up in Walmart. You know, you plug it in, the loader works fine, the power supply works fine etc. and you exult in the glories of the PQ on a Sammy DLP.

I will wait until some brave souls report on their trials to ensure that these problems were fixed.

Read the WM9 / D3 threads. The device won't play the disk, but for DRM reasons, not for performance reasons. Look for posts from kjack (?) who works for the company that makes the decoder chip that will be in the D3.

Mike
long as it doesnt have HDCP - i am all over the D2
I'm getting it. Hopefully we can get an AVS group buy or discount.
