I have a Sony HD-300 D* receiver and need an answer to the topic header. All responses will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Wolfie,

There is no such thing as a standalone HDTV DVR, because the technology isn't yet available to affordably record from DVI / component. As a result, all HDTV DVRs will either have a HDTV STB and DVR integrated into the same box, or they'll rely on Firewire (which no Sony STBs have) to connect STB and DVR. This is not likely to change in the next five years.

Best bet is to pick up a Hughes HR10-250 and sell your HD-300...

Same situation as the HD-300. No PVR can record HDTV from the HD-100 without modification adding a firewire port.
