Besides the two year old Pioneer universal player who makes or has near-term plans to market one. I'm at a point, that I would like to add a SACD player, but would hate to have a universal player in my local store in two months time. I don't need digital outputs or progressive scan. Just SACD and DVD-A, multi-channel and bass management.

they have a new player Pioneer 747, not as good but cheeper.

That sure makes it difficult to make a decision. From my reading, it appears that folks with the new XA777 aren't as happy with the performance over the older stereo 777. Any additional thoughts?

I hear quite the opposite. I haven't found one post where someone who bought the new 777 and has or has heard the old 777 and doesn't like the new one better.


I wish the opposite were true as I own an old 777.

There is one from Luxman, something like LU-10, not sure about the model #. This is a OEM of AX-10 with a new design audio board.
