I would like to throw together a Home Theater DD and DTS system and save money to buy something in the future. So - I thought for less than a $1000 bucks I could buy the radio Shack Receiver STAV-3970 , the matching front speakers, along with the PRO cs550 center channel, and 120W sub, and for rears pro ls100's. Does anyone know who makes these components for RS ? Is the STAV-3970 a waste of money ? My thoughts are to put this in the excercise room when I do eventually buy better components so I am sure I could use it for that - but how about for home theater ?

It used to be Pioneer (rebadged as Optimus brand). Then Radio Shack signed an agreement with RCA, and now RCA logo is on all their gear. But, certain "RCA" receivers still LOOK like Pioneers. Each brand has an identifiable appearance.

RS is ok, used to better. I think you'd get bang for your buck with Technics personally.
