So I have my house wired for speaker wire and I need a receiver to power four sets of speakers.....Master bedroom, bathroom, loft, and outside. After hours of searching, it seems like there is only one receiver that fits my needs. The Sherwood RX-5502 seems to be able to power four sets of speakers and looks to even have a dual zone mode so I could play two different audio sources. My question is, is there anything else comparable on the market that doesn't cost over $350? Everything seems to be for home theater when all I want is audio.

Assuming you will use volume controls in the rooms and you only want one source to be shared by all the rooms at the same time - you won't need anything fancy. Just use impedance matching volume controls in the rooms and any well-built amplifier or receiver should be able to handle the load easily. You won't need the Niles SS-4 either. Trust me, you will want the volume controls in the rooms!
