Well considering that D* is the only carrier with the nfl exclusively till the next decade and that D* does have a gameplan for their HD package its not wierd at all.

Just because the box is cheaper doesn't mean its worth getting.

Why there are still lots of people choose DirecTV HD? Weird
I guess it's called choice. That's the great thing about multiple competitors.

Other than the exclusive NFL, what else D* is better? What about PQ? I think it should be the same as cable HD. D* doesn't offer TNT HD, INHD, right? Not mention YES (non HD). Does it carry regional Comcast sportsnetwork HD?

I'd reverse the question and ask why anyone is still married to the cable. Besides costing more ($15-20 in my plan), the analog channels are horrible on any TV. My area Comcast doesnt carry the Travel Channel and that's reason enough.

Well, the reason is simple for me, I am Yanks fan, I just cannot use D* because it doesn't carry YES, no matter it's HD or not. Yes, cable companies are pigs, that's why I switch my internet from comcast to Verizon DSL.

Someone could look at the title of this thread and think (for a fleeting moment) it was an honest question, requiring thoughtful assessments by those who choose (and those who don't choose) DirecTV.

But then by the very first sentence of the original post it becomes clear this is just another anti-DirecTV troll.

Perhaps when nywst has been on AVS longer, he too, will tire of such repetitious threads. Or perhaps he will just learn to conceal his own bias just a little longer.

Charter Cable here doesn't even carry all our local HD/Digital channels and Charter has fewer HD channels overall than I can get with Directv and an OTA antenna. The PQ on analog cable channels is terrrible and I get fewer and shorter outages with Directv than I ever had with cable. Monthly cost is about the same, but Directv has more SD channels and much better customer service. And, did I mention the fact the Charter has been in financial straits, teetering on bankruptcy for years.

Owning my own hardware is a small price to pay to be rid of our local cable monopoly.

I guess you judge comes too soon.

What I post is NOT the truth? I just want to find out the reasons why people choose D* if the HD cable with cheaper equipments carries the same HD programs. I thought I might miss something, since I am NOT in HD or AVS long. Is this wrong? Does this offend you?

I am not anti any dishes at all. And I do NOT appreciate your personal attitute which is obviously biased.

I watch YES all the time on D*. It was actually the first MSO to sign YES and it has carried YES from day 1. I don't know where you got your info, but it was obviously someone who wants you to stick with cable.

Yeah, cable sucks big time. That having been said, if TiVo goes with a cable card, I'm there. I'm not married to D either but I am to TiVo.

Yours is Dish Network or DirecTV? I couldn't find YES from DirecTV's channel line up.

Thanks.

Now that you've found out that D* carries YES, do you regret your choice?
